Last year I talked about my love for hats and the collection I've amassed over the years in our 2016 Summer Hat Lookbook (check it out here). I've added a few for summer 2017 and as always, my hats are super affordable and can be found at your favorite retailers! Look at this beauty I found at TJMAXX for $24!
The humidity is so disrespectful in Virginia Beach (and maybe where you are too), so instead of doing wand curls (check out that post here), twist outs and slick back buns like I did all summer '16, I'll be braided up. This year I've added three styles to my hat collection to add some sass to my protective styling for the summer. My girl Nikki did an amazing job with these cornrows (check out my top three tips for choosing a pain-free braider, that'll keep your edges intact, here).
The mixed metal detailing on this hat makes it super fun to accessorize this look!
FYI and in case you were wondering, no edges were harmed in the capturing of these images. This Brooklyn Hat Co Hat has an adjustable drawstring in the lining. It's definitely a feature us curly girls need in our hats!
Sundress season is upon us so I definitely wanted to pair my go-to dresses for this summer with these chic hats. I've been so busy with full time employment, getting my salon hours, and NHDC, that I've been on a quest to find looks that are affordable and accessible, flattering and simple, yet trendy and chic!
This BCBG hat from Marshall's is the perfect accessory for me when I 'hit em with the shoulders' in this dress! I love how the stitching on the brim brings in all the colors and details of this simple dress I snagged for $16.99 at TJ MAXX!
This blush tone hat is my fave of the three. While I have never been a huge pink fan (my favorite color is actually black), I have slowly fallen in love with all things blush. The adjustable drawstring in this hat made it a must have (you guys know by now how I feel about being able to adjust my hats depending on my hair style)!
I love the black braided band and tassels around this hat. Life is too short for boring hair and hats so when I saw the color, the adjustable drawstring and the detailing, I just had to have it! It’s perfect to add some flair to this wrap-around sun dress while protecting the intricate parts of my cornrows from the scorching heat of the sun.
Everything you see in this lookbook is super affordable and accessible. I usually shop at Marshall’s or TJ MAXX and can find some amazing deals. This lookbook is not sponsored by either brand I just love sharing where I make my purchases lol!
