Naturally and Wonderfully Made: A Natural Hair Learning Affair
Natural Hair Does Care had our first event in June of 2012. Through the power of word-of-mouth and social media we spread the word about this opportunity and had a strong turnout beyond our wildest dreams! This event really started the Natural Hair Does Care revolution. We hosted almost 300 women in Queens, NY to a day of hair, health, and beauty. Our purpose in putting on this event was really to educate women of color on the beauty of their hair, to really inspire women with naturally Afro-textured hair to learn and embrace the best techniques for achieving maximum hair health.
The event attendees were treated to gift bags with natural and organic products, and hair-care and hairstyling demonstrations by expert stylists.
The attendees were also able to speak directly to specially invited guest speakers with knowledge in the care of Afro textured hair, including social media personalities Jenell Stewart, of the website KinkyCurCoilyMe.com,Sasha-Shae Shaw of AfroniquelyYou.com, Dr. Phoenyx Austin, author of the book “If You Love It, It Will Grow,” and Danie of DanieAndTheBloomTV. Dr .Austinalso did one on one consultations with women experiencing issues with their hair health such as poor moisture retention and hair loss.
This educational and entertaining event a great success, we had a great time meeting our followers, and giving them tons of info and free products and gifts. In fact, pictures of our attendees were featured on Essence.com.
Special thanks to our product sponsors: Eden Bodyworks, Curly Hair Solutions Curl Keeper, and Chagrin Valley Soap and Salve.
