We’ve had an amazing year getting to meet so many wonderful women on the NaturalHairBrunchAffair Tour! In 2013 we met and instantly clicked with Casandra, the founder of (IG: @foodbeforelove). We partnered with her for a memorable brunch in Harlem, USA and soon people all over North America began asking when we would be coming to their town! Soooo many requests from far and wide. But how would we decide where should we go????
We took a poll.
Yup, we took a poll and made a short list of 6 stops from among the cities that showed the most love. We reached out to our favorite brands to collaborate with us to make this a very special event for each attendee at each stop. CURLS (www.curls.biz), our lead sponsor, provided their signature bags and full size items of some of our all-time CURLS must-haves for each tour stop.
Our first stop was Washington D.C. and the Naturalistas from the DMV area flocked to Ulah Bistro for an afternoon of high energy, networking, information, and fun! Did you see the feature about the brunch in the Huffington Post? Read all about it here.
Connecticut Naturalistas welcomed us next. On a beautiful sunny day in Hartford we headed to Hot Tomato’s to meet a great group of women, beautiful inside and out! This tour has been a great way for people to meet new #curlfriends in their area and to try some excellent products that we highly recommend for the care and nourishment of highly textured tresses.
One thing we love to do is to share our journey. Each of the #KayeSisters has a unique story to share and we are very open about our regimen, tips, trials, and styling do’s and don’ts.
In our audience were some very special guests who are advocates for the Natural Hair Community in Connecticut. We were very pleased to be joined by Carmen Veal (@CarmenVeal), founder of BrownSkinWomen; Nicole and Wendy of Connecticut Curlies (@ConnecticutCurlies); and Daliah of Homegrown Naturals of CT (@homegrown_naturalsofCT). If you haven’t already connected with their platforms and you are from the Connecticut/New England area, we’d highly recommend you take a look at what they have to offer.
We love to give goodness away! Besides Curls we were blessed to have support from Tropic Isle Living, Naturally Supreme, Boy Beads, Shea Suite, and Precious Roots. That’s one of the fun things about bringing the tour to each city, we also get to introduce our audience to great products and companies.
A highlight of each #naturalhairbrunchaffair stop is the opportunity for networking. Connecticut Naturalistas got to share their business ventures with each other and learn about local resources right there in the room. We love this usie from our photographer Dame, it captures so much of the event especially what we hope will be connections that will last and grow.
